Grants Pass TV Repair | Winegard Vs Channel Master Antenna Test. See info section for Winegard modification. @GrantsPassTVRepair | Uploaded 4 years ago | Updated 2 hours ago
In this video I compared my Wingard HD7694P antenna to my Channel Masters Advantag 45 antenna just to see which one performed the best. The signal strength on these antennas were almost identical, except for channel 5 which operates on 79 Mhz. Since Winegard doesn't recommend this antenna for the VHF Low band my results were not surprising, But I have since discovered a simple modification for the winegard antenna which boosted its range on channel 5. You can see it in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AJOafHJ8fI&t=2s
Both of these antennas had a listed range of 45 miles, but their real range is based on several factors such as the transmitters power and the transmitter location.. One important thing to note about the TV antennas is the manufactures will often list what frequencies their antennas do the best at, and they may offer other antennas that do better at specific frequencies. A good example is the channel master advantage 45 antenna Vs the channel master digital advantage 45, These Two antennas are said to have a 45 mile range, but the one I demonstrated in this video performs far better on channel 5 than the digital advantage 45.
