Windrose just hit Early Access, so I jumped in at launch to see how it feels compared to the demo. In this first look, I go through character creation, early quests, combat, base building, crafting, and the opening push toward getting your first real ship.

My early take after the first hour and a half: the character creator still feels weak, some early progression bottlenecks are real, but the water looks great, the world has a strong pirate survival vibe, and the game is fun enough that I think it is worth the money if you are into survival crafters.

If you played the demo, I also call out what feels the same, what feels different, and what to expect on day one.
