It’s funny looking back now because when Wind Waker was first revealed, a lot of fans hated it. Nintendo had previously shown a darker, more realistic-looking Link during the GameCube era, leading many fans to believe the next Zelda would continue in that direction.
Then Wind Waker arrived with its colorful cel-shaded art style, expressive characters, and cartoon-inspired visuals.
The reaction was brutal.
Many fans immediately dismissed it as “too childish” and not the Zelda game they wanted.
