After four years alone on a deserted island, Chuck creates Wilson from a volleyball washed ashore in a FedEx package. Only around 12 Wilsons were made for the production, specially produced by Wilson Sporting Goods with the logo printed on just one side. The props team even built them using materials Chuck could realistically find on the island - palm fronds, driftwood, and natural fibres - with input from survival experts and Tom Hanks himself.
This example is one of the most distinctive ever to appear at auction. It features Wilsonâs stitched mouth and mohawk-like stalk hair, unique modifications added during filming in Fiji that make it stand apart from most of the Wilsons seen in the film.
