William Galston, a former Marine, holds the Ezra K. Zilkha Chair in the Governance Studies Program at the Brookings Institution and is College Park Professor at the University of Maryland. He served in the presidential campaigns of Walter Mondale and Al Gore, and as Deputy Assistant for Public Policy to President Clinton in 1993-95. He is the author of eight books, the first one being Kant and the Problem of History (1975) and is a leading thinker of contemporary liberalism, as in The Practice of Liberal Pluralism (2005). He also writes a weekly column for The Wall Street Journal. He graduated from Cornell and has a PhD from the University of Chicago (1973).
William Kristol is the founder and editor of The Weekly Standard. For a decade he was a panelist on Fox News Sunday, and he now appears regularly on ABC’s This Week as well as on other leading political commentary shows. A graduate of Harvard College, he received a PhD in Government also from Harvard, and taught political philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania and then at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. In 1985 he left Cambridge for Washington, D.C., serving as chief of staff to Secretary of Education William Bennett in the Reagan administration and then to Vice President Dan Quayle in the first Bush administration.
