Well folks, here a one-shot take of this classic folksong on a recently acquired 100 year old banjo. I've always thought that Dock Boggs' variation on the classic "Darlin Cora" ballad was the ultimate bad-boy song. Not a bad-man ballad, like Jessie James, but just a layabout, drunk-without-a-dime ballad. A blaming-his-problems-on-his-friends-and-lovers ballad. Sound familiar? We've all been there. I, for one, plan to be there again.
Shot on a gaddang iphone in St. Louis' lovely Tower Grove Park. Hat by Goodwill. Coat by Uniqulo. Attitude by country living. Banjo by S.S. M-Fing Stewart in the 1910's.
