Will it run? We teamed up with BradFab Garage for the ultimate junkyard engine revival - firing up this scrapyard 454 big block Chevrolet for the first time in years. This Chevy 454 engine rebuild starts with a full inspection, and ends with FIREBALLS shooting out the exhaust ports when this big block engine roars back to life on the test stand.

In this engine rebuild video, we take a scrapyard big block Chevy 454 and put it through "complete" (well at least the important bits) inspection before attempting the first start. We strip off all the unnecessary throttle body injection (TBI) components from this big block Chevrolet engine, pull the spark plugs to borescope the cylinders, and cut open the oil filter to check for metal shavings or damage. Once the 454 motor passes inspection, we load it onto Brad's engine test stand and rig up the bare essentials for this junkyard engine revival: distributor, starter, carburetor, and gravity-fed fuel. After a few cranks on the starter, this scrapyard Chevy 454 fires up throwing flames out the open exhaust ports - proving this big block engine rebuild was worth the effort.
