Mark Fixes Stuff | Will Recapping fix this 128k Sinclair Spectrum Toastrack? Disaster Occurs! @MarkFixesStuff | Uploaded August 2023 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
*** This video is kindly supported by PCBWay.com - My choice for for high quality PCB manufacturing, 3D printing and more! I thank them, and Elaine Hu for their wonderful support! ***
This Sinclair Spectrum 128k "Toastrack" was sent to me by a friend before my house burned down. It has a huge personal significance to them because it was gifted to them by someone who then passed away. After the fire I lost track of the item but was amazed to discover it had survived inside a box upstairs. I'd like to get this computer back to my friend.
In this video we try and reverse the disasterous recapping that rendered it broken in the first instance and see if just replacing the capacitors is enough to get the machine running again.
There is a critical failure in the video and huge thanks to Damian S for the rescue. Retroleum are at retroleum.co.uk but this is not an endorsement or sponsored video. Retro Computer Shack are at this link: retrocomputershack.com
