This new, limited access road in Burlington, VT is an interesting dynamic between two schools of thought -- the old planning style of the mid-20th century in running freeways through central business districts in order to provide easy access and manage traffic, and the 21st century goals of complete streets and removing high volumes of traffic from residential neighborhoods. Will this new road be able to achieve all those goals and become a model example? Or will history continue to repeat itself and simply introduce more cars into an urban area without solving any traffic congestion problems?
