We're enjoying summer in rural Portugal on our off-grid homestead, returning to work on our Tiny House, preparing firewood for winter, and travelling to Wales during the heatwave. From wildfire smoke to wild swimming, life in rural Portugal is never dull as we continue building a self-sufficient future.

Life here in the Portuguese countryside changes quickly with the summer, and there’s always work to be done to manage the land, reduce wildfire risk, and keep the homestead productive and resilient.

As temperatures rise above 35°C, we shift more of our routine around water, shade, and early morning work, while continuing to build a more self-sufficient life on the land.
