Firefighters in the Indonesian city of Palangkaraya were struggling to battle spreading wildfires on Wednesday as drought conditions worsened. The city in Central Kalimantan province has declared a state of emergency as about 120 fires were burning throughout the area. Many of the blazes are encroaching on degraded and highly flammable peatlands.
