In 1983, a local small-town Italian pizzaiolo by the name of Giuseppe Mascolo created the first panuozzo for his kids as a hearty dinner. This wood-fired sandwich made with pizza dough is shaped into loaven form, baked and stuffed with cheese and meat. Typically it's sliced meats like pancetta, sometimes savory Italian sausages, and fast-forward four decades...wieners. 😏
Another small-town pizzaiolo by the name of Christós Abouabdo brought together two of his greatest loves: pizza making and the cross section between fine dining and wieners to give us — the Wiener Panuozzo. 🌭
Wienermaxxing isn’t a trend. It’s a lifestyle. For years fine dining has needed more wieners in it and Chris intends to slide them in there.
Summoning forth the young Hunter once again, the two set out to create what's is objectively the greatest sandwich in human history.
Made with a Neapolitan-style pizza dough “bun” made from Chris’ secret recipe, the panuozzo is made with an all natural casing dog, a cherry tomato vinegar jam, parmesan-mozzarella foam and is topped with dill sprigs and cracked black pepper. 🤌🏼
