It's hard to do a #WidowsMovieReview, without comparing #SteveMcQueen's heist film to another recent gala presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival - Antoine Fuqua's The Equalizer. Both men are amazing, award-winning black directors. Both then seemingly take a break from their more critical fare to bring audiences more of an action film, and then bring it to TIFF. Both Widows and the Equalizer are based of television shows. Both adaptations have amazing, Academy-award winning actors in the lead. The similarities go on and on.
So how would #Widows fair? With an absolute unparalleled cast with icons, award winners, up-and-comers from both TV and film, with a brilliant writer like Gone Girl's Gillian Flynn, and with an Academy Award Winning director like McQueen... What could go wrong?
