In this video I show you how to build your own custom reverb in Bitwig Studio using allpass delays and a few simple stock devices. Instead of relying on one dedicated reverb plugin, I explain why the actual delay times inside an allpass network matter so much, and how bad number choices can turn your reverb into a strange echo instead of a smooth diffusion.
I also show the free allpass delay calculator on my website, which helps generate better delay-time distributions for room, plate, hall or shimmer-style reverbs. Then I build a simple reverb from scratch, improve it with chorus and filters, and finally show a more advanced version with multiple diffusion stages, shimmer and early reflections.
