A yawn during dog training doesn’t automatically mean your dog is bored or stressed.
Dogs can yawn as a calming signal when they’re feeling unsure, regulating stress, or working through something that feels difficult.
That doesn’t mean every yawn is a red flag. Sometimes they’re tired. Sometimes they’re uncertain. Sometimes the training session may simply be asking a little too much in that moment.
The important part is learning to read the behavior in context instead of assuming one signal always means the same thing.
Your dog is constantly giving you feedback. Learning how to recognize it can make you a better trainer.
