The goal of working with leash reactivity and behavioral issues isn’t simply to stop the barking, lunging, or explosive behavior. The real goal is to help the dog overcome the fear, insecurity, and uncertainty driving those reactions in the first place.
That process often requires more than one approach. We use positive reinforcement to reward good decisions and build confidence, while also providing clear guidance and boundaries when necessary so the dog understands what is appropriate and what isn’t.
This dog came to us with severe reactivity to the point of self-harm during outbursts. Through consistent exposure, clear communication, proper timing, and the use of multiple training tools, he slowly learned how to exist calmly around other dogs.
The transformation didn’t happen because of one tool or one technique. It happened because of good coaching, owner education, and giving the dog every opportunity to succeed through a balanced approach tailored to the individual dog in front of us.
