Friends of Science Society hosted an in-person event titled: "Common Sense on Climate and Energy, Let's Nix Net Zero, Together!" The event featured two contributing authors to the handy guidebook "Energy & Climate at a Glance."
Paul MacRae was the second speaker at our event. MacRae is a contributing author and editor of "Energy & Climate at a Glance." His career included 40 years as a columnist and editor of major newspapers in Canada and abroad; over a decade of teaching writing at various Canadian universities, and authoring two books on climate change. Paul is also a member of the Climate Realists of BC.
Paul MacRae's talk presents Sections 4 and 5 of Energy & Climate at a Glance. Section 4 notes that fossil fuels are essential for thousands of indispensable products (e.g., bandages), but are also a key component of chemical fertilizers without which half the planet’s population would starve. Section 5 looks at the economic absurdity of Net Zero policies, which are ridiculously expensive for very little gain in reduced temperatures and should be abandoned in favour of adapting to climate change.
