Ursula’s origin is reimagined in “He Called Me Daughter,” a dark Disney villain song inspired by The Little Mermaid and Poor Unfortunate Soul.

Before becoming the sea witch, Ursula was raised by a human father who died protecting the tentacled form King Triton forced her to hide.

This Little Mermaid origin story explores Ursula and Triton as siblings - and the betrayal that created one of Disney’s greatest villains.

At the Merball, Triton presents a shell from the father they shared. Ursula answers with the memory of the powerless man who gave her no blood, crown or kingdom - but gave his life to keep her whole.
