Do you know any youngest children and are they at all spoiled?
Youngest child syndrome is characterized by dependence, risk taking behaviors, an outgoing personality, and usually by far the most spoiled of all the children. Am I wrong? The theory is that since the youngest child has older siblings, they grow up to become more dependent on others to take care of their needs. They may exhibit more risk-taking behaviors because they often receive support from their older siblings. They may have an outgoing personality which develops for them to interact with their older siblings and their friends, so they develop socially much quicker. Spoiled because parents are often much more lenient with them, due to sibling dynamics where the older children take care of the youngest, allowing parents to feel more confident in them participating in activities outside of their age group. Also, since parents are busier with more children and developed confidence in their parenting that they’ll turn out okay, they are often much more lenient with the youngest.
