In this video essay, I dive deep into the evolution of Waylon Jones. From his tragic, multi-issue comic book debut in 1983 to his devious, deeply complex portrayal in Batman: The Animated Series, Killer Croc has always balanced on the line between a classic street gangster and a tragic monster.
While The Batman successfully gave us one of the most physically intimidating and formidable versions of Killer Croc ever brought to animation, it traded deep-seated human tragedy for a polished, reptilian mercenary aesthetic.
