The Gambian parliament will debate today a bill that seeks to reverse a ban on female genital mutilation (FGM).

FGM was criminalised in The Gambia in 2015, but some seek to overturn the ban, claiming it violates religious freedom and cultural practices.

The BBC’s Esther Ogola explains.
