This incredible examination of the billion-dollar global perfume industry has revealed children working in the supply chains of two of the world’s top brands.

BBC Eye Investigations found children working through the night, picking jasmine in fields last summer that were supplying global brands through factories in Egypt and fragrance houses in Europe. The flower is considered one of the most valuable ingredients in many of the most iconic fragrances.

The UN’s Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of slavery said what the BBC had found may constitute ‘the worst form of child labour’.
