Pot of Greed appeared in hundreds of televised duels, then vanished without a word — and it was on purpose.

Konami banned Pot of Greed from the real card game in March 2006. That September, in episode 104, someone activated it one final time and the grinning pot never appeared on screen again, deleted from a fictional universe to match a real-world law. Years later the series' duel writer admitted it was policy: he refused to keep showing children cards they were not legally allowed to play, so every banlist swing rotated the casualties out of his scripts.

Then he built the replacements. Destiny Draw debuted a month after the ban — a Pot of Greed with a cost, locked to one archetype. Fifth Hope followed the next year. Every deck since has been handed its own private, watered-down copy of the card the show was no longer allowed to name.
