Why Phil Mickelson CONTINUES To Call Out PGA Tour..
Welcome back to Golf District. Back in Saudi Arabia for the first time since his disparaging remarks about the source of LIV Golf's funding, Phil Mickelson said Thursday he was glad he was on the “winning side" and that he sees the PGA Tour trending downward. Mickelson had said a month ago that while the PGA Tour had all the best players in the world for the last 20 to 30 years, that would never be the case again. He came out even stronger in a news conference for the LIV Golf Invitational-Jeddah, which starts Friday at Royal Greens in King Abdullah Economic City.
Phil Mickelson made a return to the public eye this summer with LIV Golf, ending a monthslong self-imposed absence in the process. He did not, however, return to his formerly beloved Twitter account. But it appears that might be about to change. First, some background. For decades, Mickelson was one of the faces of pro golf, and it was hard to get away from him. At every big tournament, inside every U.S. team locker room, at every Masters Champions dinner — even on occasion in the TV broadcast booth — there Phil was, flashing his trademark smile and usually dishing out a joke at someone else’s expense.
