Male birth control has been "just around the corner" for decades, so why don't we have it yet?
The biology is more complex than you'd think. Women release one egg per month, but men produce hundreds of millions of sperm every single day, making it much harder to develop an effective contraceptive for men.
But here's the encouraging part: 49% of men said they'd use a new male contraceptive within a year of FDA approval, and 82% would use it in their lifetime. We're finally at a point where men want to share responsibility for birth control.
If trials continue to go well, we may see the first contraceptive option for men approved in the near future.
