I have Booker fatigue... mostly. It's Lucy Ellman's fault. Her book killed me. 2019 was the last year I read the complete shortlist and Ducks, Newburyport took me a full month to complete. No other books. Just one full month of, "the fact that...". It was bananas. Bee ay en ay en ay ess.
This year I've already read two of the longlist, ordered two more and been thoroughly intrigued by a fifth. I can't imagine all five of them will make it to the shortlist, but I think I'm pretty much done for the year either way.
I will of course be keeping up with all the longlist enthusiasts, I'm just taking myself out of the running once again.
