Magic Monk | Why I paid $50 AUD for Assassins Creed Odyssey Ultimate @magicmonk | Uploaded October 2022 | Updated October 2024, 8 hours ago.
You probably thought I was crazy. Asssassin's Creed Odyssey is free on the Xbox Game Pass. So why would someone pay for the game still? I did start playing it for free. However, as I got more and more into the game I realised how much effort the developers put into it, and I think they deserve being paid extra for this game.
If you consider how much effort they put in modelling ancient greece, the characters, the story, how big the map is, how many quests and side quests there are, the combat system, so on and so forth. There's just so much in the game and it simply should not be free.
Secondly, the $50 AUD comes with Assassin's Creed 3 remastered, two DLCs (Legacy of the First Blade and The Fate of Atlantis), various other perks, as well as being able to keep this game forever. Essentially I'm paying the $50 for Assassin's Creed 3 and the two DLCs, which are not part of the Xbox Game Pass.
Also, you never know how long a game will stay on the game pass - every month there are games leaving. By paying the $50 you are guaranteed to have Odyssey forever, as well as all the DLCs and Assassin's Creed 3. I have heard really good things about Assassin's Creed 3, so I'm wanting to give it a go too, and the remastered version should have pretty decent graphics.
In summary, it is about $160 dollars worth of games for $50. So yes, that's why I paid $50 for it :) Do you think I made the right call?
