Hendrick Motorsports has been focused on the NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR Cup Series only for many years. That changes this weekend at Road America when Kyle Larson will race the number 17 fielded by Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Part of a three race schedule that will include Alex Bowman driving the entry at the Indianapolis Road Course and William Byron tackling Watkins Glen. Chase Elliott, despite attempting Darlington earlier this year will sit on the sidelines. Kevin Meendering will crew chief. Though this might seem like the Hendrick Automotive group further getting itself out there, the timing is interesting especially with Dale Earnhardt Jr and his organization JR Motorsports rumored to go to cup. This move has has the potential to be much more than a three race deal and could impact the organization and the series going forward. NRF Productions proudly presents "Why Hendrick Motorsports is RETURNING to the NASCAR XFINITY Series."
