When most people think about building security, they focus on locks, alarms, cameras, or guards. But in most forced entry events, the first point of failure is the same: the glass.

Standard tempered and annealed storefront glazing is designed for safety, not security. Once it fractures, immediate access is created. Criminals understand this. Breaking glass is faster than defeating locks.

• Time-delay / access denial glazing
• Ballistic protection (UL 752)
• Active assailant simulation testing (ASTM F3561)
• Violent forced entry standards (ASTM F1233)
• Organized mob assault testing (ASTM F3038)

ASTM F3561 simulates ballistic assault followed by blunt-force attack to determine whether glazing remains anchored and prevents a reach-through opening.
ASTM F1233 evaluates extreme manual forced entry using heavy tools.
ASTM F3038 represents coordinated multi-attacker assault over sustained attack cycles.

Not all ballistic glass provides meaningful forced entry resistance.
Not all forced entry products are ballistic.
And fragment retention film is not engineered access denial.

Security glazing is not one-size-fits-all. The correct system depends on threat profile, occupancy, risk tolerance, and budget.
