Frontier markets, including the world’s least developed countries, are home to more than a billion people and face some of the deepest barriers to investment.

In this video, Chris Chijiutomi, Managing Director and Head of Africa at BII, explains why frontier markets are a priority in BII’s new five-year strategy. He sets out how long-term commitment, tailored support and close partnership can help strengthen markets and improve investment environments.
As part of the strategy, BII will commit at least a quarter of its core capital to frontier markets over the next five years, with a programme-led approach in a smaller number of focus countries combining investment, policy engagement, technical assistance and partnerships.
