After 1.5 years travelling through Southeast Asia, I returned to the UK full of excitement to see my children, grandchildren, and friends — but nothing prepared me for the culture shock at Gatwick Airport. From raised voices to rigid rules (and a £70 train ticket surprise), I found myself feeling unexpectedly out of place in a place I once called home.
In this video, I share the emotional and eye-opening moments from my return — and reflect on what “home” really means after leaving behind the comforts of routine and redefining life on the road. Spoiler: it’s not always about a postcode.
