1:25 NOTE 1: This is poorly articulated. It would have been better if I'd said something like:
"I consider antinatalism to be defined/encapsulated by a normative statement, rather than a pessimistic evaluation, such as Benatar's statement".

3:30 NOTE 2: This is where things can get murky. We need to guard against retconning philosophical pessimism with the AN label. When it comes to determining what is and isn't AN I prefer proceeding with caution looking for meaningful definitions with limiting principles, rather than working backwards trying to shoehorn prefabricated ideologies into AN.

6:08 NOTE 3: I don't mean we can jump directly from Benatar's evaluation to a normative claim. Only that Benatar's evaluation can be used as part of an argument to arrive at a normative claim.

9:17 NOTE 4: My point still stands wrt green (AN) gradually turning into red (not-AN), but I'm no longer as certain about the specific example I use here.

15:18 NOTE 5: Lawrence Anton is proving my hunch correct by trying to persuade ANs to prioritze animal suffering, and by becoming a proponent of the Ecological Niche Replacement Argument, a pronatalist agenda.
(NB "a pronatalist agenda" refers to the Ecological Niche Replacement Argument)

18:52 NOTE 6: Here are some examples of David Benatar defining antinatalism. 1) He's adamant about it being more than just the pessimistic evaluation that it's harmful to come into existence. He consistently invokes a normative claim. 2) He extends AN to animals that humans cause to come into existence. However if he means a normative proscription, which appears to be the case, I've yet to see step by step reasoning from him or anyone else justifying such a determination. Simply declaring something to be the case doesn't make it so. 3) Absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence, but it's worth noting he doesn't mention wild animal intervention. He only references a negative duty to refrain from bringing into existence.
