Creative Cat Productions | Why did SEGA just launch a brand new game studio in Sapporo, Hokkaido? @creativecatproductions | Uploaded January 2022 | Updated October 2024, 45 minutes ago.
Last December, quite clandestinely, SEGA-Sammy revealed that they had established a brand new game development studio out in Sapporo, Japan. The news came without warning and the new company already had a brand new President and CEO in Takaya Segawa, a long time veteran of classic SEGA who once worked on the Mega Drive and Saturn. This fact is probably the best clue as to what SEGA is actually up to in the far northern regions of Japan, because for the last 12 years Segawa has been the head producer of the extremely popular Phantasy Star Online 2….well, extremely popular in Japan. Perhaps, in conjunction with a recent alliance with Microsoft, SEGA has plans to increase the western usage of that game? Could be.
As always, thank you very much for watching. Stay tuned for more.
