We've heard the term aposematic used on the channel a lot referring to animals with bright colors used to ward off predators, but is that actually why these animals are so red?...... It's what we've believed for years, and there have been things to back this up, so surely it's true right?... Well, sometimes the obvious answer isn't all there is to it! These snakes as well as many other animals have brightly colored patterns, so why is this? Why do bright colors work so well for animals that are trying to avoid being eaten? On today's adventure, we stumbled across the perfect example of this, the scarlet kingsnake, and we're gonna be talking about why these snakes are ACTUALLY so red!
