WHOOP markets itself as one of the best user-experience products in the fitness space. But a recent app change tells a very different story.
In this video, I break down a subtle but intentional UX shift in the WHOOP iOS app: instead of returning you to your data, the app now defaults to the “More” tab — the section filled with product ads, the WHOOP Shop, and referral prompts. This happens even when the app was already open and you simply multitask away and back.
This wasn’t the behavior last year. And for a product with a high-priced subscription model, this raises serious questions about priorities, design ethics, and whether profit is now being placed above user experience.
