I decided to do the Case of Susan Walsh since I have been reading the book she contributed to for a while now. That book is "Red Light: Inside the Sex Industry" by Sylvia Plachy and James Ridgeway. The book has some interesting discussion of sex work which is often not discussed but a good portion of the book is quite unpleasant as far as descriptions of sexual behaviors and paraphilia that might not be something one wants to intake. Who was Susan Walsh? She is a Jersey woman who went missing in 1996 and never seen again. It is suspected she is dead but her body was never found. She was a journalist, but also a stripper and she reported on and was involved in very shady businesses. She contributed to a story on the Russian mob forcing underage immigrant girls into the sex trade. She also reported on vampire clubs and their bizarre behaviors.
But, she also had bipolar disorder, substance abuse issues, supposed stalkers, some boyfriend living with her and her eleven-year-old son and an estranged husband living down in the basement of the small apartment building.
She was last believed to have gone out to make a phone call from a phone booth just outside the building and never came back.
