In 1991, a horrible fire engulfed the Willingham home. Cameron Todd Willingham was home alone with his three young children while his wife was out doing errands. He escaped from the home; his children did not. He was charged with arson and murder and sentenced to death. At 36 years old, still claiming he had not set the fire, Willingham was executed by lethal injection.
The Innocence Project has brought for arson experts who claim that the original investigation was fraught with junk science and incompetence, that there was no proof the fire was set by Willingham. They also claim that a dislike of Willingham as a person by law enforcement and the Texas prosecutors tainted the case.
Is Willingham innocent or is he guilty? It is a VERY complicated case....arson is one of the most difficult kinds of investigations to handle....but I do come to a conclusion.

“Incendiary: Willingham Case” - I only see it on Apple TV for $3.99. It is a defense driven video.
“Trial by Fire” is a fictionalized version of the case. It is definitely a defense and anti-death penalty film. Didn’t get high ratings although some thought Laura Dern was good. I found it on Amazon Prime for $3.99 and on Apple TV. I actually thought it was quite good….certainly biased towards innocence but quite well presented in a number of ways I explain in my analysis.
