On the 18th of June 2024, WHO and partners evacuated two patients from Al-Ahli hospital in northern #Gaza: a 16 year old girl with upper limb injury and a 32 year woman with spinal fracture.
Both patients have congenital hearing loss. They will continue receiving care in European Gaza Hospital.
Al-Ahli hospital currently has a 100 bed capacity and is facing a huge challenge of exhausted and unpaid workforce since October. Specialised physicians remain in the hospital until 4pm. For the rest of day, only residents and trainees are providing care. The hospital needs orthopaedic, plastic, maxillofacial and neurosurgery specialists.
The hospital also lacks medical supplies, and fuel remains of concern to keep the generator going to provide electricity for essential services.
