Seagulls Gather | Whipping Star by Frank Herbert book review @SeagullsGather | Uploaded November 2021 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
My review of Frank Herbert's novel Whipping Star. Serialised in 'Worlds of if' in 1969 and published as a novel in 1972, Whipping Star continues the story of Jorg X McKie that began in the short story 'The Tactful Saboteur'. McKie would return for another novel (The Dossadi Experiment) making this series Herbert's second longest after the chronicles of 'Dune'. Whipping Star begins with a pervert threatening to whip-start the apocalypse and the bureau of sabotage moving to stop her.
