With the new Dungeness Crab regulations in effect we have to use hoop nets currently in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have made two trips so far this season to Bodega Bay, CA. First was the opener with conventional hoop nets. Second trip I borrowed some conical hoop nets and boy did we get those crab. I purchased four conical nets and wanted to put them to the test against my old style ones. The results surprised me. After the crabbing it was time to get my lingcod. We headed to the reefs with some live smelt.
