"Where One of the Flowers Has Gone"
People ask where all the flowers have gone
And make a big deal out of it
Well, if you want to see the flowers
It depends on where you sit
If you sit up on one of your high horses
And take a look around
You’ll see the young girls pick them
And you’ll see them on the ground
Up there on your high horse
You’ll see the circle of life and death
And war and peace and love and loss
The very first and the very last breaths
I don’t concern myself with any of that
I just want something pretty to fill up a vase
I read a book and look at it
It brings a smile to my face
What doesn’t bring a smile to my face, I’ll tell ya
Is gloomy thought provoking music of folk
I know about problems, I’ve got plenty of them
My life’s an egg with no yolk that got broke
And my shell’s cracked in many ways
That can’t be put back together again
So where have all the flowers gone?
One’s in a vase, my friend
Allow me just that point of peace
For it’s getting near the end
Allow me just that bit of peace
For it’s getting near the end
