Over the course of eleven seasons, Lauer traveled to 49 locations on six continents. Producers, professional camera crews and PAs ventured abroad weeks in advance to shoot aerials, film in-depth stories by special correspondents and meet with interviewees such as Hosni Mubarak and Jackie Chan. Shooting in some locations wasn't easy - crews with mounds of equipment had to fit in tight spaces on the USS Theodore Roosevelt and go through rigorous safety training when visiting the Britannia Oil Platform.
