This week we bring you National Spelling Bee finals from 1984, in which the winning word was "luge." This year's National Spelling Bee finals take place on May 30 when young winners from regional spelling bees all over the United States, its territories and numerous other countries compete for the championship and $30,000. The bee dates back to 1925 and NBC delivered the first live bee broadcast in 1946!
