Sounds of my Grandparents Era
"When You Wore A Tulip and I Wore a Big, Red Rose" sung by Gene Kelly and Judy Garland on Decca 78 RPM Record No. 18480B. From the MGM Picture "For Me and My Gal" released in 1942 and directed by Busby Berkeley. Composed in 1914 by Percy Wenrich, Jack Mahoney, and Edward Ray Goet. Played on a Victrola Talking Machine with a Tungs-Tone Stylus. Videography by Dane C. Sorensen.

There are probably far better sounding recordings of this song, but this video gives you an idea what an average persons in the 1940s would have been able to listen to on their home talking machine. This record belonged to my Grandparents - Frederick and Genevieve Robertson.
