In this short video I revels the date of the first transatlantic television transmission via radio waves.
Many people might think that the first transmission would have taken place when live television transmissions were relayed across the Atlantic using the revolutionary new satellite called Telstar in 1962.
But no, the first live television pictures were transmitted across the Atlantic well before that. The transmission occurred on 11 February 1928 using a short wave transmitter of the station 2KZ using a power of about 2kW. The pictures were received just outside New York.
The system, though, used the Baird Televisor system - a scheme that used a fast rotating mechanical disc to scan the picture - nothing like the system we use today.
