Tonight on Hillbilly Crime, we are looking at Alex Murdaugh through the lens we have been talking about here at home: power, lawyers, money, courthouse connections, and what happens when people inside the system stop questioning one another.
Before the murder case, Alex Murdaugh had already built a trail of financial crimes. He stole from clients, grieving families, injured people, and people who trusted him because he was their attorney. So tonight we are asking: how easy is it for a lawyer to misappropriate money? Who should have noticed? And what does it say about any courthouse culture where everybody has something to hide?
Then we move into the murder trial, the overturned convictions, former clerk Becky Hill, and why misconduct inside a courtroom can force the state to prove its case all over again.
This is about Murdaugh. But it is also about Letcher County. Allegedly. Because when attorneys live like they are untouchable, with money, gambling, drinking, drugs, women, boats, toys, and the party lifestyle swirling around the courthouse crowd, the people deserve to ask hard questions.
