When nature calls on Utah public lands, be prepared.
In many desert, alpine, river canyon, slot canyon, frozen-ground, and high-use recreation areas, visitors may be required or strongly encouraged to pack out human waste. A human waste disposal bag, sometimes called a pack-out bag or WAG bag, is designed to safely contain waste until it can be thrown away in the proper trash receptacle.
Before your trip, check local rules for the area you plan to visit. Some places allow cat holes, while others require all human waste and toilet paper to be packed out.
Help keep Utah’s public lands clean, healthy, and open for everyone.
