Know the Code 📖 Plano requires fences to be maintained in good repair. A couple of missing pickets are not necessarily a violation. Broken, loose, damaged or missing sections totaling 20 square feet or more must be repaired or replaced.
Leaning more than 10 degrees from upright or being held up with exterior supports? That’s a violation. Fence parts must be securely attached and repairs must use materials designed for fencing that are similar to the existing fence.
See a fence that may warrant an inspection? Report it through Plano.gov/FixIt. Property Standards staff will inspect the concern and determine whether it qualifies as a violation.
