A Critical Dragon | When Accurate Analysis Can Lead to an Inaccurate Conclusion: The Numenorean Training Fight in RoP @ACriticalDragon | Uploaded October 2022 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
Kramer from @LivingAnachronism did a really great fight breakdown about Galadriel's 'training fight' with the Numenorean soldiers, and Valendil's promotion to Lieutenant. Video Here: youtu.be/24WEOoUlIKQ
While I agree with almost all of the analytical points that he makes in how he breaks down what is being shown in the fight, I disagree with his interpretation of the scene in Rings of Power Episode 5 'Partings'.

Kramer really astutely points out a whole series of aspects of the fight that point to this being about Galadriel and not the Numenoreans, that the Numenoreans are not skilled enough, and that the scene fails as a training montage showing the Numenoreans increasing in skill, and I completely agree.
What I disagree with is his point that this is what the scene should be about.

I actually made an error in the video:
Galadriel challenges the recruits to 'draw flesh', but it is Elendil that offers the reward of a promotion. It doesn't change much about the analysis because the sequence still changes from outright instruction to a competition, but it answers a question that a few people had about where did Galadriel get the authority from to offer the promotion.
