Humanity seems to be really good at taking what should be tools to make our lives better and squandering them on making a select number of people at the top just a little more powerful. Much of that power derives from money at the moment, but the truth of the matter is that AI is going to lead, eventually, to a society that is less reliant on money. When that happens, power will have to come from somewhere else. That's the way it's always been, all throughout human history. Those at the top take advantage of any possible feature that will allow them to gain even a little bit more power, and those at the bottom scramble for the crumbs.
AI can make the world a much better place, where people can chase their dreams and not have to worry about working a dead-end job just to pay the bills. The question is, will we actually use the technology to benefit everyone? Or will we use it like we use every other tool at our disposal?
